Welcome

By Mrs L Prewett, Headteacher

We would like to extend a warm welcome to you all. Our school website aims to provide a flavour of our school.

It is our philosophy to nurture and develop all children into well informed, enthusiastic and articulate members of the school community. Within this belief flourishes the desire to enable all children to reach their full potential.

It is recognised that children thrive when positive partnerships are promoted. High standards are set for learning and behaviour. The school follows a values programme which focuses on key values. Class and school rules are discussed at the beginning of each academic year and reinforced throughout the year.

A broad balanced curriculum is taught throughout the school. There is a strong focus on the children acquiring the necessary skills in Literacy and Numeracy. It is recognised that children learn well when they are happy, secure and engaged.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information, visitors to the school are always welcomed.

With kind regards,

Leonora Prewett

Headteacher

About our school...

The main school building dates from 1908. Old buildings bring both charm and adversity however we have worked hard to enhance the facilities for learning whilst keeping the original features of our school. Time has certainly not stood still.

During the last five years we have been able to provide a beautiful outdoor classroom for the children in the foundation storage, completely refurbish the hall and equip the ICT suite. Extensive building work has enabled us to extend a classroom, enlarge  and furnish a superb library area along with much improved administration areas. The library was opened by a local author Julia Jarman in October 2006. This would not have been possible without the support and commitment of both the Governing Body and the PTA.

Earlier this year we celebrated our school centenary, with many exciting events for the children, starting with a mass balloon release from the playground. It was interesting to see how far some of the balloons had travelled, some even as far as Belgium and Germany, although most reached Essex.

Below are just a few of the many photographs taken.
